On July 27 the Department of Water Resources (DWR) released a Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the Delta Conveyance Project. The report analyzes three different possible conveyance alignments of varying project design capacities. It has tentatively identified the Bethany Reservoir Alternative as the proposed project, which would divert water in the north Delta into a single tunnel with a capacity of 6,000 cubic feet per second that ties directly into the California Aqueduct at the existing Bethany Reservoir. The public comment period for this Draft EIR is from July 27 through October 27. DCA has no role in this process. All comments should be directed to DWR.
