Alternate Director, representing Alameda County Flood Control Zone 7 Water District

Sarah Palmer is immediate past-President of the Delta Conveyance Authority and has been on the Board of Directors of Zone 7 Water Agency since 2006, serving 4 terms as President. She has served on the Zone 7 Administrative, Finance, Tri-Valley Liaison, and Water Resources Committees. She is on the Board of the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) presently serving on the Water Quality, Agriculture, Finance, and Local Government Committees. With ACWA, Sarah is an active participant on the PFAS/PFOA workgroup, the Microplastics workgroup, and is Vice-Chair of the ACWA Region 5 Board. She served as the Chair of DCA’s Delta Conveyance Stakeholder Engagement Committee.

Sarah has worked in cancer research, the medical diagnostics industry, and taught science at the university and high school levels. Sarah presents STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) projects to young women through the American Association of University Women and has mentored high school Biotechnology Academy students. Sarah is President -Elect of the Rotary Club of Livermore Valley and on the board of the Rotarian Foundation of Livermore. She also serves on the Executive Board of the Alameda County Special Districts Association.

Sarah has a Ph.D. in Cell Physiology and Biochemistry from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Political Science from New York University.
